At LB CRANES, we design and install custom lifting solutions adapted to the real conditions of each workspace.
We recently completed the installation of a semi-gantry crane with a 2-ton capacity in an industrial facility in Madrid.
Design adapted to the dimensions and layout of the facility
The characteristics of the building and the arrangement of the shelving required a design that would ensure safe and unobstructed movement.
The result was a crane with nearly 6 meters in height and a 9.9-meter span, providing the necessary maneuverability and reach.
Structural engineering of the semi-gantry legs
For this project, the legs were designed in a box configuration, similar to those used in a traditional overhead crane.
This solution ensures the necessary structural inertia to handle loads of up to 2 tons over a large span, providing robustness and stability to the structure.
In addition, metal brackets were installed and fixed to the concrete columns using chemical anchors, along with 30 meters of crane rails to allow the crane to travel along the length of the facility.
Special solution for the lower end truck
In conventional overhead cranes, the wheels are typically made of steel with a groove to follow a guide rail.
In this case, the lower end truck runs directly on the facility floor, so a special design was implemented:
- Specific machining to remove the flange from the groove, leaving the wheels completely smooth.
- Coating in Vulkollan, a high-strength polyurethane elastomer, which maintains excellent load capacity while ensuring smooth movement without damaging or marking the floor.
Result: efficiency and durability
Thanks to this customized approach, we achieved a robust, efficient, and durable installation, perfectly adapted to the space’s needs and conditions.
A solution that combines engineering precision, safety, and respect for the work environment.
